Is a lab-grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes — unambiguously. A lab-grown diamond is chemically, physically, and optically identical to a mined diamond. Same carbon structure. Same hardness (10 on the Mohs scale). Same brilliance. In 2018, the US Federal Trade Commission formally recognised lab-grown diamonds as real diamonds. There is no asterisk on this answer.
How are Lab-grown Diamonds different from Zirconia or Moissanite?
Completely different materials. Zirconia (ZrO₂) and moissanite (SiC) are simulants — they look like diamonds but they are not diamonds. They have a different chemical composition, lower hardness, different optical properties, and cannot be certified as diamonds by IGI or GIA. A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond. A zirconia is not.
Can a jeweller tell the difference between lab-grown and natural diamonds?
Not with the naked eye. Not across a counter. A trained gemologist looking at your piece cannot tell the difference. This is a gemological fact, not a marketing claim.
Will my lab-grown diamond lose its sparkle or change colour over time?
Just like natural diamonds, lab grown diamonds do not loose their shine. Due to sweat dust formation they may appear dull but can be fixed by simple cleaning. To know more about how to maintain diamonds contact us for a free guide.
Does Zeyvaar provide certification for its diamonds?
Yes. Each piece of jewellery comes with a certificate from IGI or SGL specifying cut, colour, clarity, and carat grade — independently verified, not self-assessed. Your certificate is your proof of quality, and it travels with the piece.
What is the resale value of a lab-grown diamond?
Diamonds are not an investment - natural or lab grown. A lot of cheating happens around the buy back of diamonds as there is no standard market price for diamonds like there is for gold. We are strictly against the misconception that diamonds are an investment and the malpractices followed during buy back of diamonds.
At Zeyvaar, we make pieces for women who buy jewellery to wear it, celebrate with it, and carry it forward — not to liquidate it. If resale value is your primary consideration, we are probably not the right fit. If you are marking how far you have come, you are exactly who we make things for.
